If you follow me on Instagram, you've probably seen most of these photos. But since they don't belong in any certain post, they're all getting thrown into a "Miscellaneous Monday" post.
Our local Chick-fil-a had free breakfast for the entire month of January!
...and we only made it over there once. It was a different item everyday, with some repeats, but we went and grabbed Chicken Biscuits one morning before school. YUM!
Locals: Our Chick-fil-a also has free coffee for the month of February. Free small hot coffee or med iced coffee, one per person per day. They also give away a free original sandwich with any purchase the day after a Bradley basketball game that the Braves make 15 free throws. You're welcome. :)
Moving on to school: During the winter months spent doing school work basement, we shine a blue vitamin D light and pretend we're at the beach soaking in rays. :)
We recently celebrated our 100th day of school for the year!
Miles doesn't spend as much time on curriculum as Cooper and I do, so he gets to go play while we finish up. He often makes due without Cooper by having his toys play games with him.
...sometimes the toys win. :)
Miles also learns all kinds of other lessons.
Like how to make a flatulence sound with his underarm. :-/
Miles is also pretty good at making a mess in the playroom all by himself.
Derek finished processing the wild hog he got in Texas. He made sausage, which was a first, and it turned out great! I'm thankful Derek does all this and even cleans up the whole mess.
He likes to help around the kitchen too. He cooks or at least helps cook pretty regularly. We hosted our church small group (Life Group) a while back and Derek was in charge of the guacamole, which also turned out great!
Our boys follow in their wonderful Daddy's footsteps and help around the house. Sometimes without even being asked. One day, Miles heard the dryer buzz and said, "I'll get that, Mom.". He didn't fold them, but also offered to unload the dishwasher.... that was still running. Ha.
It must be enough to wear him out though. He's been napping a lot more again, when I thought he'd given up naps for good. He's been eating a lot too, growth spurt?
Derek and I got a date night recently. After we ate dinner, we went to Panera to sit and have coffee. We didn't even know our friends, Isaac & Rachel, were also on a date, but they arrived at Panera for coffee at the same time. So it was an impromptu double date to end the night and was a nice surprise.
Their son, Ethan, is Cooper's friend and came over on a Sunday afternoon to play.
Seriously, Legos, Legos, Legos...
About a month ago, I dropped the boys off at AWANA and when Cooper went to hang his coat up, he knocked a (heavy, metal) hanger off the coat rack onto his nose. It really upset him, although I'm not sure it hurt too much, and he didn't want me to leave. Eventually, I got him settled and made my exit, but Cooper has been having some serious separation anxiety ever since! Anytime I leave him anywhere, sometimes just in another part of the house, he melts down. Hoping it's just a phase and we get past this soon.
Ending on a happy note, things that can cheer you up:
