One Departure - One Arrival

On Sunday morning, Grandpa Don took us all to brunch at The Port.  I guess I was too busy enjoying the food and didn't take pictures!  I stole this one off their we site though, it was a nice place and great food.

We all loaded up and hit the road.  My boys rode with G'ma Debbie & G'pa Dale as far as Wichita.  After a pit stop where G'ma bought him powdered donuts, Miles told Aunt Mik that he was going to nap the rest of the way...  and he did!

Everyone else went on home to Wichita, but Derek, boys and I stopped in Kansas City at Aunt Brenda's for the night.  I got Uncle Bruce's hair all fixed up and then they headed off to Ryan's football banquet.  So we took advantage of the evening in KC and headed to Cabelas.

It's a big store and has way more fish than our local BPS.

They were also very impressed with the taxidermy animals on display.

Miles might have tried to climb into the display though.

Not sure I'd want in there, even if they're no longer alive.

My boys know about a lot of random animals and facts about them.  I wish I could take credit for their knowledge, but it's actually because their favorite tv show is Wild Kratts.  :-/  Miles saw this and said, "Look! It's a lynx chasing a snowshoe hare!".   He talks about these animals often, but it really cracked us up.

They were also impressed by the big moose.

And looked at all the animals for a long time, it was a lot to take in!

There was a little playing around too.

Overall, we were impressed by Kansas City's Cabela store.  Although it felt a little like we were cheating on our Bass Pro Shop.  And I promise it was a total accident that Miles wore his BPS shirt that day!

We quickly walked though the Mule Deer Museum before we left.

Daddy is the most impressed by this part...

We headed back and spent a little time with Donnellys before bed. It was nice to catch up with them a little and we're always thankful they let us crash there so often.  It breaks up the drive nicely!
