911 Education

We attend story time every Friday at our local library.
One week we had a guest reading the stories, a Peoria police officer.

There was also a former 911 dispatcher there who had a phone system that had two phones connected to each other.  The kids got to pick up the phone, dial 911 and the operator answered the other line, "911, what is your emergency?" just like you would hear when dialing 911.

They handed out a useful packet and also went over tips to help kids know when and how to dial 911. And stressed the importance of kids knowing their own address and how to unlock and find the keypad on smartphones.

It was very good and educational.   Then we continued with our routine of checking out books.

And a movie, removing the sensor cover is often the highlight of our library trip.

A good morning at the library!

That ended in looking for spiders.  :-/
