20 Year Reunion

The boys and I loaded up in the car...

And took a little drive across the Illinois State line into Iowa.

After a pit stop at the world's largest truckstop...

We arrived at our destination for the afternoon.
...a city park in Iowa City.

Where we met up with Bennett & Maxwell.

And their sister, Evelyn, and Mommy, Tiffany.

Tiffany is my second cousin, we are just a month apart in age. Here we are as babies.  My sister, Angie is the one sucking her thumb and Tiffany and are are the babies below that, me with the dark hair.

Tiffany's family moved to Indiana for a while, but we were reunited during a family reunion in Nebraska one summer, hopefully in the 80's judging by our hair.  We lived less than an hour apart during our early teenage years and saw each other often.  But when my family moved to Kansas, we didn't see each other again for what we think is close to 20 years.

Back to the present, Tiffany's husband just finished Medical School and they moved back to Nebraska from Minnesota.  On one of her many trips from the old house in MN to new house in NE, they took a break in Iowa City and we met them there for this little mini reunion.  Our kids had never met but got along famously!

Bennett is a little younger than Cooper and Max is a little older than Miles.

They found they have a lot of common interests, included but not limited to looking for bugs.

And climbing walls.

And snacks.

Cooper had fun getting smiles out of Evie.

Who was perfect little angel sitting in her stroller while we caught up.

I did grab her and snuggle her a little too though.

While the boys ran...

And ran...

And acted silly together.

It was a great couple of hours, but not near enough time to catch up on 20 years absence.
We've already decided we need to plan another get together much, much sooner!
