Some of you may have heard about storms that went though Illinois yesterday. They hit close to home, but we didn't take a direct hit in Peoria. Our home is fine and we are fine!
If we had been at home, we would have been farther away from the storms. We were at church in East Peoria and took shelter in the church basement as the storms passed. One of the tornadoes went by about a mile away.
At least one family in our church had a home that was severely damaged by a tornado. Pray for this little girl and her parents and baby sister. We stayed with others at the church (and distracted by playing with phones/taking pictures) while her parents went to asses damage and gather a few things. Their roof and part of the house is gone...
And "Grandma" Pam was working in Washington, IL when the tornado hit there. She was huddled in a tiny bathroom at the home of her 91 year old client she cares for while the storm ripped the house apart around them. But they both walked out unharmed!
I feel like I'm struggling with being over dramatic, yesterday was a hard day for our surrounding communities. If you want to see more pictures/news our local site is: cinewsnow.com
Thanks for you prayers and concerns.
Please keep praying for our area as clean up begins.
Not over dramatic at all. That is a scary situation, but it's also exciting to see God work through these times. Both with the strength of the storm (how did He think of tornados? Sometimes even the thought of the creativity overwhelm me! And for sure His power is displayed!) but with His ability to love us, heal us, grow us, and speak to hardened hearts through these times. Praying for your community and you and Derek.
