Getting ready for deer season takes some preparation.
Cooper got to go along with Daddy to scout out some hunting locations.
Cooper is pretty serious about scouting.
Derek edits Bowhunter that airs on the Sportsman channel. The next two episodes feature the New York Giants' Justin Tuck hunting in Argentina. You can see the teaser here:
The guys that hunt on the show set Derek up with a new bow this year. It's a great perk of his job! He keeps it at work and gets to practice everyday during lunch. So he's been shooting a lot more often than in years past, and with a much better bow. But to get ready for opening day, equipment needs checked out too. So Derek brought his bow home to get ready to go.
Cooper and Miles thought that was pretty fun.
They like to help check accuracy.
And using a range finder is pretty fun too.
Even if it's just out the kitchen window to see how far away a squirrel is.
...while sitting at (or on) the table.
Hunting season is also the only time I hear Derek say, "I need to do some laundry." He washes his hunting clothes in scent free detergent and dries them with a dirt scented dryer sheet...
Deer season opened Tuesday, Derek went out and sat in his tree stand for a few hours. He saw one doe that wasn't close enough to shoot and then headed to work. The next time he planned to try, he woke up to a thunderstorm and didn't get to go. Will we be in the market for a deep freeze soon? We'll see.
