Academic Update

School is going well.  We found a groove and schedule right away and Cooper is enjoying kindergarten at home.

He makes it pretty easy for me since he likes to learn and is picking things up quickly.
...also, if he's concentrating, his tongue is out.

It also helps me out that he doesn't mind being flexible and going with the flow of our days.

Miles plays with toys a lot while I work with Cooper, but he also has worksheets to do every now and then.

And he's always listening and observing.  The week we learned about "L" I heard Miles say, "L is for leaf" and turned around to find he'd written an "L" on the chalkboard without prompting.

Miles has also learned to say the Pledge of Allegiance.  I wrote a little about the boys saying it here but actually can't remember if I've posted this video or not.  Between this blog, facebook, Instagram and YouTube I can't keep track of what gets posted where!  So I apologize if you're already seen this one...

Painting is a highlight of any day.

Miles is always willing to be 'in school' when the paints come out.

Although he wasn't sure about finger painting asking, "You just use your fingers?".
Cooper quickly informed him that you don't eat it, "it looks good, but it actually tastes gross."

Every Friday we go to the library for story time which is also when we return our books for the week and pick up books for the next week's subject that I've already put on hold.

Some days we change it up and do something like eat a picnic lunch out in the yard.

Sometimes safety goggles are worn.

Especially on days that a spider surprises Cooper when he opens his binder.

Again, Cooper is doing well and we're enjoying the homeschool experience.  He's just starting to blend letter sounds together enough to pick out a few (easy) words here and there... which is exciting for all of us!
