When we decided it would work to leave our boys in Wichita for the weekend (a long one thanks to Presidents Day!) Derek and I debated doing a weekend getaway in another city. But with last minute planning and a budget to think about, we chose to stay home and have a "stayaway" instead. Great choice! We had so much fun and enjoyed doing things around Kansas City...and also worked on a few projects around the house that are more difficult with boys under foot.
We went out to eat on the Plaza:
Went to church and got to sit through the entire service!
Hung out at a sports bar...
Because I wanted to watch the KU game... and we did, on a huge screen!
While eating pizza.
We went out for breakfast one morning. (My favorite meal out!)
And then walked around a park enjoying the wonderful weather.
Really we went to the park to Geocache.
We even searched for (and finally found) one
that would have been tricky with toddlers in tow.
Across a creek... I'll follow this man anywhere. :)
Then we rented a movie and ordered chinese food.
...saw a movie in an actual theater. :)
And ate sushi.
A whole weekend full of favorite things we don't get to do often.
It was wonderful!
Thanks to our families for keeping the boys!

ReplyDeleteOh--looks like so much fun! I'm glad you had that time together--always important to do once in awhile! I think a staycation would be the way to go--sleeping in your own bed over a hotel and still going out and doing different things! :)
ReplyDeleteLook like you two had so much fun :) love your pictures!!! Miss you guys <3
