We went to the zoo last week while Derek was off work.
It may have been a day off work, but he did a lot of this kind of work:
::::Side note::: Once while we were walking like this, Derek started looking around frantically and asked, "Where's Cooper??"! He calmed down when I reminded him he was on his shoulders! :)
And Cooper spent quite a bit of time up there...
These hippos were playing ball:
And this alligator was one of Cooper's favorites, he kept asking to go see it again.
The chimps where all waiting for food so they were
out where we could see them really well.
Cooper made some friends.
Maybe that's why when we asked him later, this was his favorite animal at the zoo.
I don't know what it was really called, but according to Cooper it's a "Huge Giant Lizard"!
Good enough for me... but this is the best picture we got of the guy:
Snack time:
Cooper and a lion:
Miles had a pretty good view of most of the animals:
He spent a lot of time like this... it's a new trick. Ha.
He points and says, "Ssa?" ("what's that?")
When he wasn't sleeping anyway...
Hello Mr Gorilla...
We packed our lunch and ate it there... I love picnic lunches.
Miles shared his seat with Cooper for a while too.
He loves his big brother.
We rode the tram. I think we could have walked around faster than waiting in line.
It was pretty fun, I just don't think I'd do it every time.
We caught the sea lion show. Anyone remember Vince from my zoo post last year?
He entertained us with his tricks once again.
Hey, Vince, nice to see you again.
There were two one year old sea lions in training too... so cute!
And then it was off to find more monkeys:
This one was willing to get up close and personal!
And we fed the lorikeets. A highlight of the day!
We saw snakes too, but Cooper wasn't as excited
when he realized you can't take them out and hold them... what?!
Cooper held onto the map and had fun 'guiding' us around.
The kangaroos just run around in the Australia part of the zoo...
And Miles made friends with a sheep in the petting zoo:
He was a nice sheep:
And Miles really liked him!
Miles said, "Kitty Cat" to almost every animal we saw.
This was one he was right about... a BIG kitty cat!
We also saw the new polar bear exhibit.
I would have liked to see him swim, but he was up on top while we were there.
It was hot and I would have liked to take a swim, the water looked nice!
That's what these misting fans are for though...
to cool us down! They work great.
It was a fun day at the zoo!
Cooper is already asking when we're going back.
Miles looks so at ease with that big sheep! Funny... he must be adventurous like Cooper and his Dad!
ReplyDeleteAmy - You could write ad copy for the zoo!! This blog makes me want to go too :) Cooper is really brave to feed the lorikeets cause they seem to swarm anyone with a cup. I like them too though!
