I took the boys and went to Wichita for a few days. I wasn't planning on going for Dad's surgery since me + two boys would just be in the way. But a couple other things came up so I decided to go ahead and make the trip. We spent some time at Mom & Dad's the day before Dad's surgery. The kids played in Papa's fish pond distracted Papa while I did Mom's hair...she'd been begging me to come for weeks. Ha.
We went swimming.
Cooper hasn't been in a pool much at all this summer. But he was still pretty brave!
On Thursday, Dad had to be at the hospital before the rest of us were awake.
Here he is in pre-op - where he sang Johnny Cash songs until they finally got him put under!
Uncle Jay, Aunt Sarah and kids were in town that day,
so we got to show them Mom & Dad's new house.
After we ate lunch we went up to the hospital to visit dad for a (short) while.
Dad was feeling pretty rough when we were there so we didn't stay long.
He was having trouble breathing since they inverted him and squished his lungs during the three hour surgery... that however didn't stop him from getting a few jokes told! And then try not to laugh at himself since it hurt.
I did hair the next day. (We stayed with Derek's parents so I did that over there)
Then we went out for pizza - Free library reading program coupons for the kids!
And then bowling - Kids Bowl Free summer program!
After bowling Cooper went home with his cousins to spend the night.
He had a blast... thanks, Aunt Angie!
Saturday morning while Cooper was still at Rouses, I left Miles with Grandma Debbie (she also kept my boys while I went to Bunco Thursday night, Thanks, Debbie!) and went to my friend, Rachel's baby shower.
Congrats to Luke & Rachel. I'm excited to meet baby Kylee soon!
We stopped by and said "HI" to my Dad who was home from the hospital and then headed back home. The boys slept the whole way home... except when I had to stop for a bathroom break. We're home for a few days then off to camp. Home a few days, gone a few days, home... You get the idea, this is our lives right now! :)
