Thanks KTA Man

Derek earned a free flight from Southwest Airlines traveling for work.
He decided to use it to go hiking in Arizona where his grandparents spend the winters.
So instead of staying home for five days, the boys and I came to Wichita to stay with my parents
(who we haven't seen since Christmas) while Derek is gone.
We dropped Derek off at the airport at 6:30am and hit the road.
The boys did a lot of sleeping while I sipped my coffee... hoping it didn't cause me to need a potty break too soon.  Dragging them both into public restrooms by myself can be interesting.
Know what else is interesting while traveling by myself?

A FLAT TIRE.

Thankfully a Kansas Turnpike Maintenance man was able to come to my assistance.
All the patrolman in the area were unavailable due to a high speed pursuit!
We saw the chase going the opposite direction just before the flat tire.

We had to unload part of the car to get to the spare tire:

The boys did great and just hung out in the car during this whole process.

Thank You, Jerry, for rescuing us!!  We were back on our way in less than 30 minutes.

Now we're enjoying lots of "Cousin Time"!
Pictures coming soon.

  1. Glad to hear you made it through that experience so well! I'm sure it was a little scary at first. Aren't cell phones a wonderful thing when you need help fast!!

Have a great time in Wichita!

  2. Ohmygoodness - no fun!! Yay for Jerry! And yay for calm kiddos - they probably enjoyed the "ride" they got from Jerry jacking up the car.

  3. Oh man! Thank goodness Jerry was there! You're lucky you didn't loose control of the car going at such a high speed when it went flat. Scary!

  4. Yay for Jerry! Good for you for taking it in stride. I got a little chuckle at the last picture - I'll bet you had to be sneaky so he wouldn't wonder why you were taking his pic! :)
