ReplyDeleteThis is just such a cool picture!
ReplyDeleteSoooo---We were 8-ish when we met--I started going to the church that your dad pastored at the time. Bike rides, tents in the basement, ice-skating, playing in an old camero, youth camp, racoons, fort building...lots of great memories ;)
I LOVE this pic. We are headed to Glacier this summer, and I can guarantee you I won't get this great of a shot - ever! We just love you guys - met thru Cornerstone a decade ago :)
ReplyDeleteAmy put my name in the hat... We worked together at MPOWB... great times and all the good food..
ReplyDeleteCgalate
I've known you since the day you were born!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative idea! We met through Cornerstone and you have spent lots of time keeping me looking my best by doing my hair. That is until you moved. So far, you can't beat Grandma's post.haha
ReplyDeleteI used to pretend you were my doll. Mom would put you in my cute little doll bed (where did that go?!) and you'd lay there and play with me. Such a good playmate all these 29 years!
ReplyDelete(Can family enter? :))
Hi Amy! Please put me in the hat, Derek and I went to Full Sail together and y'all were my family away from home. I can never thank you enough for the kindness and love y'all had shown me in Orlando.
ReplyDeleteChris
I think we met in Milford when your Uncle Mark took me there for Thanksgiving before we got married. I slept in a room with you and Angie, maybe Anna too, but the twins weren't born yet. I thought you little girls were just the sweetest things. I also remember your Mom made Stove Top Stuffing instead of the Secor family stuffing and Grandpa Gray wasn't happy. Oh the things we remember!
ReplyDeleteAs I was walking outside in the backyard of my great great grandparents, Squanto and Michinto, I stumbled upon a hole in the ground. As I reached my hand in the hole, I pulled out a wooden box. I opened the box, and to my surprise, a 1995 MIcrosoft Word document was in the box perfectly preserved. The information on the paper contained an address. I then Mapquested this address and it brought me to the very first Starbuck's in Seattle. I hopped on a plane, with hopes that this location had something very vital in it's purpose. As my plane lands in Seattle, a guy says to me, "You aren't from around here are you?" I exclaimed, "Nope, dude, sir." He chuckled and went about his way. At the baggage claim, I waited 24 minutes for my luggage to arrive. The bag that I had checked, was checkered, so that I could easily find it in the midst of all the other black bags. I spotted this checkered bag and headed to the nearest Enterprise. As I rented a car, the GPS unit inside the car had a list of previously visited locations. The 2nd location last visited, and to my amazement, was the exact Starbuck's I went to Seattle for. I drove 3 miles over the speed limit just to get there extra quick. I parked my car, beep beeped it, and stepped in a pile of Frappucino whipping cream. i made sure no one around me saw, as I was utterly embarrassed. I walked inside and was a bit tired so I ordered an Iced Coffee with ice. I went into the bathroom to dampen some paper towels, and wipe the whipping cream off of my shoes, and as I bent down to clean the rubbish off, I hit my head on the sink causing a contusion, gash, laceration or something fancy like that on my forehead. I was then rushed to an emergency room, probably like 23 miles over the speed limit type of rush, to mend the injustice on my head. The nurse that was stationed to my room, her name was Eunice-Ira. After I was stitched up, Eunice-Ira said to me, "Purty, deep cut you have mista." I replied, "Yessum." She then handed me a piece of piece of chewing gum, in which I replied, "I don't chew gum." She said, "Look on the back." to much surprise, there was a date on there from 1927. I asked her why she kept that old of gum around, and she said it was from her childhood. I just smiled. Well, there was a phone number on there for Wrigley's. I decided to call it, just to see where it would direct me to, and lo and behold, it was a person named Edward Jose Martinez. He answered, and I told him about Wrigley's gum from 1927, and he didn't speak English, so he hung up. Anyway, I checked out of the hospital, and realized someone had tagged my car with the word "blogspot." So I decided to google blogspot and it brought me to blogspot.com. I then created an account, and check out some blogs. As I was blogging around all afternoon, I saw that mleynek.blogspot.com, was the number 1 visited Blog on June 4th, 2010. So I hurried myself over the the Blog, and that's when I saw that there was this giveaway. I about leaped for joy! I was so excited. So then, I decided to comment and let the Mleynek person know that if my name were to be drawn on Wednesday, that I would not even know until Friday when I would return home from Seattle.
ReplyDeleteCan I just copy and paste Renee's?! :) Yeah, we met when we were just kids....lots of good times at our house, your house, and all over the countryside!
ReplyDeleteWe met because you saved us and bought the house next door! (keeping the creepy guy away!) We love having you next door!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking I first met you on a trip to Bethel. Is that right? Everyone was new to me...but I'm pretty sure you were there. One of my first "real" memories of you was when I took your squad shopping for some reason and then we came to your house and prayed for you, just before you started barber school! I remember being a little awkward because I didn't know you that well. You have become a very good friend, and I am so glad!
ReplyDeleteWe don't actually "know" each other...and I don't even remember how I found your blog...but I'm addicted to it because our families seem fairly similar...and who wouldn't want to see Cooper do the Shim Sham?? :)
ReplyDeleteI have the special priviledge of attending church with your great parents and sisters. It is always a blessing to see what your little man is up to. Looking so forward to meeting the new one on the way. Beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteAfter becoming a Christian when Derek was 6 years old, someone older in Jesus suggested Istart praying for my kids' spouses. So, I prayed for Amy long before I met her. Derek has been a part of my heart for just about 29 years to the day. (Happy early Birthday from your Mama). Cooper is the first example of what our grandchildren would be like. I'm speechless about this boy! That new baby on the way is another joy soon to be revealed. It has been a blessing being a mom, mother-in-law, and grandmother!
ReplyDeleteWe met at work and you introduced me to blogging - thanks Amy!
ReplyDeleteI knew the Mleynek's because the house I grew up in is caddy corner to their backyard!(derek's family) We were never on a first name basis, but because I knew bunches of home schoolers (the farthings like jim, mary, stacy, christine, john and like suzanne darrah) I sorta kind of knew them too!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I found your blog one day way back when you were pregnant with Cooper..I sometimes drop in to read it. I also have ran into Debbie a few times and told her how I found your blog, etc.
Slightly freaky, yes. I apologize! But that's how I know you!

I know you through your Parents, and I found your blog through Angies. =)
ReplyDeleteI met you through your sister, Angie. I like to follow your blog since your Cooper and my Alex are only one day apart. Love love love the picture Derek took - would love to have some new artwork!
ReplyDeleteLove this picture. We met through Derek when he was doing camera work on Along The Road. Those were some good times...Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI met you thru my mama, who has known you for as long as she can remember. Her old dog used to come visit you when he would get out of their yard when you guys lived down the street from each other. She also remembers visiting you in NE and your dad brought in this HUGE bull snake he caught and scared almost everybody :) Youth group, youth camps, Bible studies.... I don't remember everything she said and I don't know how this will compete with other posts, but it was fun for mama to go down memory lane!
ReplyDeleteI met you and your familly through church and now you are my sister-in-law. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a one cool pic.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture! We met through church camp, etc.
ReplyDeleteThis picture should be hanging in a museum, it is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSo far you have two valid choices in a "FIXED" drawing - Jeremy, an obvious winner, or ME, which would allow me to brag on my son-in-law's talent and gifts to everyone I meet who sees the pic in a prominent place and maybe get you some business as well as notoriety!
