Independence Day in Iowa 2017 - Explosions

After lunch at the lake, we went back to G'pa Don's and showered and cleaned up.  But not before hunting toads...

Then we headed over to G'ma Jan & G'pa Gordie's for dinner.  Derek's cousin, Ryan, was there so they boys talked him into playing some ping pong.

I gave Grandpa a haircut while G'ma Debbie snuck a firework into the house to show Owen.

Then we all headed outside and found seats on the driveway.

Because Debbie was pulling out all the fireworks she'd stopped and purchased in Missouri! :)

There was immediate sorting and deciding who would light what.

And then someone lit their punks and it all began!

I can't say it was a totally relaxed evening... 😏  G'ma Jan was getting ready to run for it in this video!  And I'm glad I'm not the only paranoid person. :)

Owen liked carrying around the cars and his firetruck.

But was a bit scared of any of the loud fireworks.

Thankfully, G'ma had gotten him some poppers.

He threw a BUNCH of those.

Saying, "POP" every time he threw one.

Debbie had grabbed these by special request:
Poopy Puppies

They had just enough in the box to fill up the evening with fire and fun.

And there was only one burn and blister incident.

It took us all evening to talk Owen into letting us light his firetruck rather than take it home...

By then he understood how it worked and enjoyed watching it's performance.

Which was quite fiery...   Happy Independence Day Eve!
