Mauries

I recently took Cooper and Miles to a local business that had announced a homeschool field trip on their Facebook page.   Maurie's is a locally owned coffee and candy shop.

Miles, of course, found a moth even before we went inside.

Once inside, we got to tour the kitchen.

And see the process of the candy making.

And see how they stirred the caramel for apples before they had an automatic mixer.

Miles tried it out.

We saw where they roast all their nuts in house.

And the equipment for making caramel corn.

We got a lot of fun information about how the business started and has run and changed since opening, like adding self serve candies in recent years.

The new owner has a case of keepsakes from things she's found from years past.

And... my personal favorite...  she's added on the coffee shop portion.  It's super cute!

The new owner also has the original sign inside the front window.

Once the tour wrapped up, we picked out a few goodies to take home.

All wrapped up, ready to go!

But Miles had one more photo he wanted taken...

By the little door on the wall outside.  He thought this was so great. 😊

We took our chocolate home to Owen and Daddy.

Owen was pretty happy that we shared our 'field trip' with him.

Miles was also quite thrilled that he got to keep enjoying the fun.
