I mentioned a while back that Derek had a coworker moving out of state and didn't want to take his little boat, so he gifted it to us...
Derek has been working away on it, getting it ready for the water. About the time he decided it was ready to try, we had a long rainy spell. Finally, the day came with great weather on a weekend! The big boys helped Derek get everything ready and loaded up.
Owen and I waved from the window before he headed to take a nap. He wasn't thrilled about not getting to go. Even though I'm positive he doesn't know where they went, just that they took the boat!
Once they made it to the lake, about a 40 minute drive, and into the water, I got this text from Derek. Maybe we joked about "seeing if it will float" a little too much. HA!
They were mostly nervous about Daddy driving too fast. Once settled, they relaxed enough to do some fishing!
They fished for nearly three hours without a single catch...
Enjoying every minute! Even after Cooper lost a lure and Miles lost his prized polarized sunglasses. He caught his pole on them mid cast and flung them right into the water. He thought maybe he could hook them with his line, but Derek said he did shed a silent tear after realizing defeat. 😢
A snake came along to cheer him up!
Back at home, Owen was up from his nap so we went outside to enjoy the weather. We went to look at the neighbor's flowers and I asked him to smile with them.... and he did. 😍
I also asked him to show the camera his muddy little fingers. He did. 😍
Then he entertained himself while I made dinner.
Sunglasses Update:
I went to Walmart the next day and found that they still had glasses like Miles' lost pair on clearance. Marked down more, in fact! So we found a replacement and are now in the market for a headstrap/floating device. 😊
Success! Of sunglass shopping and the little boat's maiden voyage!
Yay! I was hoping the boat was going to float! I'm sure there are tons of fun boating trips in your future. That snake swimming at them though - no sir!!
