Go RVing - Key West

We were headed to Key West for the day, but we had a few shots to knock out before we hit the road.  Cooper was supposed to wake Miles up in the RV, so we took them over there in jammies and Miles 'pretended' to be asleep.  It wasn't hard for him.  At all.  :)

Once Cooper had roused him, and they had a short wrestling match, they came to the table to eat breakfast.  They were given time to finish eating after the cameras quit rolling, and Ginger laid down to rest while they ate.

We dressed the boys and packed our things for a day trip down to Key West.  It was about an hour and a half drive that included the 'seven mile bridge'. Yes, it's a bridge seven miles long.  It didn't faze us at all, we thought it was fun, and beautiful!

In no time we were in touristy Key West.

We walked around a little with a cameraman in tow.  I was surprised how crowded and busy Key West was compared to the part of the keys we stayed in.  It was fun to see it all, but we did it the right way by not actually staying in Key West.

There were a lot of fun things to see though.

And it was gorgeous.
(Also, a benefit of having a cameraman around means there is always someone to take our picture! Ha)

I've also been getting screen shots from the actual footage, like this one of us in a souvenir shop.

And this one, in a candy store, where Miles did this for the camera...

We found a place to change into swimming suits and headed out on a fishing boat.

The first thing we saw was a dolphin!

And shortly after, Miles had a little nap.

Ginger had stopped at a deli and grabbed sandwiches for us to take along too, so we ate lunch on the boat.  That was part was so fun about this trip, we didn't have to think about what our next activity would be or what we'd eat, it was all planned out perfectly for us.  So.much.fun!

We woke Miles up to eat his sandwich and he cracked the crew up, yet again, by 'sleep eating'.  They couldn't tell if he was awake or asleep, but he continued to eat in slow motion.

All thoughts of sleeping or even sitting still were gone when the captain asked if they were ready to do some fishing!

And there was even more excitement when Miles 'caught' this needle fish.  He was sure he caught it anyway! In reality, his line was tangled with Derek's line as Derek reeled it in.  Daddy is gracious though and let Miles have all the credit. And even throw it back, the perk of catching a fish!

And talk about excitement!!!   Cooper had a reef shark on his line soon!   You can see it jumping out of the water just to the left of Derek's elbow in this shot.

And it jumped a couple more times so we could all see it (to Derek's right this time) before it broke the line and got away!  Coop hooked another one that day too, but it also broke the line.  It's still one of my favorite moments of the entire trip watching Cooper get the 'belt' to hook the pole in and fight a shark on his line just like he sees the big guys do on tv.  He's still pretty full of himself, especially since Captain Mike said it was close enough to the boat that Cooper is allowed to tell all of his friends that he caught a shark.  :)

Miles reeled in another fish if I remember right, but his record still remains that he would rather play with the bait...  and when it's a squid, who could help it?!  Ha.

But that only lasted until he found this little gecko. This was Miles' favorite thing about the entire trip, he says.  Even though the poor thing didn't survive the boat ride back to the dock between Miles' hands.

Back on dry land, we met up with the rest of the crew that didn't go out on the boat with us.  Once again, we just had to head to where reservations had already been made for us, and enjoy the wonderful food. (mostly seafood!!) We went to a cute place in Key West with outdoor seating and chickens wandering around.  That's what Miles was checking out here.  Karen was from the RV company, along with Greg pictured here.  Everyone on the crew was so great with the boys and treated them so well.

Miles chose shrimp this night and cleaned up most of what was on this plate!

I might have cleaned up most of this key lime pie too...

The walk back to the vans ended up with some fun.  These are the two cameramen, Christian and Jake.  They became some of my boys favorite playmates while we were shooting.

Not hard to see why, they were lots of fun!  They worked really hard too, we appreciate them.

We made one more quick stop without the crew, so it won't make the show...

What a great day!
