Before summer was over, (the day before some of our friends went back to school) we went to the Farm Park. It's free on Tuesdays and that's the day we went... perfect!
We met up with our friends who showed us the ropes. First you purchase your animal food, which is given in an ice cream cone because the animals will eat that part too.
Then we headed down toward the pond with ducks.
As we walked, Miles handed his cone back to me and said, "I don't like it, it tastes like dog food."!!
I guess I didn't explain that it was a snack for the animals, not for him! Oops! (HA!)
Once I explained better, he had a blast feeding the ducks.
Somehow right as I'd put my phone away, Emma (in the purple sweatshirt) fell into the pond! Thankfully she only got about knee deep and was able to grab her flip flop before it floated away. And thankfully she's a pretty good sport, because the rest of us were laughing pretty hard!
Somehow we managed to make it feed some more animals.
Like goats.
And sheep.
And this donkey who tried to take Miles' entire cone.
Miles used food to bribe a rabbit for a closer look.
Then he snuck in a little petting.
I think they bonded. Miles loved this!
The boys were a little timid about feeding the horse, so I showed them how.
They both did it after that.
But they were shy again watching Sofia feed this pig. The sign said, "Please do not stick fingers in the cage, I bite"!! So they had good reason to be cautious.
Miles eventually fed the pig ...the rest of his cone.
Then headed to the slide inside the silo.
And then milked a "cow".
And hung out for a surprisingly long time with the turkeys.
He liked when they gobbled because they sounded "like Daddy's turkey call".
We'd all packed our lunch, so we had a picnic!
During which, Cooper randomly got up and started doing push ups.
Ummmmm..... ok.
We fed more ducks and these three amigos spend a long time hunting for bugs, worms, turtles, fish...creepy crawly things.
We had a great day at the farm park with friends!
Cool - like your own DeAnna Rose park in Peoria!
